Update to spec tuning: 9/13/17

Player versus Player

  • All specs that received general damage increases below have been reduced by an equivalent amount in PvP, as the Netherlight Crucible’s item-level increases to the player’s Artifact weapon have very little impact on PvP.

Classes

  • Developers’ notes: All of the damage increases below are a combination of buffing specs that don’t benefit from the Netherlight Crucible’s item level increase as much as other specs, as well as tuning the specs relative to each other.
  • Death Knight
    • Frost
      • All damage increased by 4%.
  • Demon Hunter
    • Havoc
      • All damage increased by 3%.
  • Druid
    • Feral
      • All damage increased by 2%.
  • Hunter
    • Beast Mastery
      • All damage increased by 6%.
    • Survival
      • All damage increased by 5%.
  • Monk
    • Windwalker
      • All damage increased by 9%.
  • Rogue
    • Assassination
      • All damage increased by 5%.
    • Outlaw
      • All damage increased by 6%.
    • Subtlety
      • All damage increased by 1.5%.
  • Shaman
    • Enhancement
      • All damage increased by 3%.

Spec tuning: 9/13/17

With maintenance this week, we’re going to make several spec damage tuning adjustments. Given the nature of the class changes we made in 7.3, we’ve not needed tuning adjustments through the first two weeks of the patch. However, one change that is coming this week is a bonus to the item level of your Artifact weapon when you activate the Netherlight Crucible. That bonus has a varying effect on certain specs, because not all specs’ abilities scale the same with the DPS of their equipped weapon. This is something that we’d like to address in the future, but for now, we can deal with it via tuning.

Furthermore, there are a few specs that we’d like to outright buff.

We’ll implement the following damage increases to account for the Netherlight Crucible:

Death Knight – Frost +4%
Demon Hunter – Havoc +3%
Druid – Feral +2%
Hunter – Beast Mastery +6%
Hunter – Survival +5%
Monk – Windwalker +9%
Rogue – Assassination +5%
Rogue – Outlaw +6%
Rogue – Subtlety +1.5%
Shaman – Enhancement +3%

And as always, we’ll continue to keep a close eye on performance going forward

Gearing up for PvP in 7.3

Guest post by Kestrel. I would have missed this information otherwise.  Many thanks!
  1. On Argus, there is going to be a new currency that gives 910 gear. so best to get WQs unlocked. You only have to unlock WQs on one toon to get it for your whole account.
  2.  If you’re doing BGs or warden towers (make sure you watch those warden towers as they sometimes offer glad pieces of gear) be sure to obliterate any extra PVP gear you don’t need. Currently; combatant pieces give 1 echo of battle where glad gives 15. When you reach 100, go and turn them in for a gear token as the gear tokens from turning in 100 echoes are about 15 item levels better than the stuff you get from warden towers.
  3. The last thing is the nether crucible. Blizzard has stated the tiers 2 and 3 of the crucible WILL NOT function in instanced PVP. However, the tier one nether crucible will give each of your slotted relics a +5 item level boost and that WILL apply to the principles of War buff.
  4. Now one last thing about the nether crucible is: it’s an account wide unlock so you only have to do it once. Pick your favourite toon and get to it.
See you all in Argus

PvP season ending soon

Attention arena and Battleground competitors! Legion PvP Season 2 is coming to a close soon. Once ended, the battle will begin again a few hours after, when Legion PvP Season 3 begins!

Season 2 – End of Season Rewards
If you participated in Season 2, in order to ensure you receive the rewards that you’re due, please keep the following in mind:

Refrain from transferring your character(s) to another realm or faction until after Legion Season 1 has ended.
Legion Season 2 titles and mounts will be awarded approximately two weeks after the season ends.
Season 3 Updates
With Legion Season 3, the maximum number of times you can Prestige will increase from 9 to 13.

Faction-based Rewards
Don’t forget—end-of-season rewards are based on your faction. The top 0.5% of Alliance PvPers will be awarded the Gladiator: Legion Season 2 achievement and mount, and the same will go to the top 0.5% of Horde PvPers. If you transfer your character to the other faction, you must have 50 wins after your transfer to receive the reward.

Where will you rank at the end of this season?

PvP Developers Q&A

Video and notes from ArenaJunkies:

General

– Leveling via PvP will be buffed

– Developers are still undecided on Solo Queue for PvP

One of the many things they’re concerned about for Solo Queue is there is a lot more DPS than healers.

Gear

– In 7.2 players can melt their gear acquired from PvP at the Obliterium forge and turn it into a currency to purchase different PvP gear

– Bonus rolls will be added for the weekly rated gear rewards

– Certain PvP mounts such as Vicous and Battleground mounts will now be account wide, Gladiator mounts remain character bound

– For Legion Season 3 you’ll be able to purchase Legion Season 1 and 2 gear from the vendor

– Developers don’t like how complicated the stat differences are in PvP and PvE currently

Duels

– Stat templates might be added to duels, but not in 7.2

Rated Battlegrounds

– Developers see Balance Druids and Mistweavers as a problem in RBGs when competitive teams are looking to find 3 Mistweavers + 5 Balance Druids per team

Title Rewards

– Blizzard is working on ways to be more transparent about title ranges
